Lake Louise, Alberta, Canada

8/6 – Lake Louise, Alberta, Canada

Beautiful driving conditions and great views on the way from Radium Hot Springs north to Lake Louise.

Fir trees line both sides of the roads for miles and miles, and mountains are always in view, framing the background.

Every once in a while nature throws in a ‘glacial-melt-green’ river to wonder at.

Once we got to the RV Park, Sylvia went exploring down a path just beside our RV.
When she reached this bridge and read the sign posted there, she got a little leery about staying in this RV Park.. Here is what she saw.
Bear Warning..!!   Black bears have been spotted in the park daily for the last 3-4 days. At least it will keep Sylvia on her toes while we are here… In the evenings of both days we were here, people spotted bears walking between the RV sites and called the rangers to scare them away, but while our neighbor RVers saw them, we never did.

The streams around Lake Louise are all this light green color, due to the glacier-melt water feeding them.

Speaking of keeping Sylvia on her toes, here she is displaying her new addiction of dipping her toes into freezing water.

And… speaking of addictions, here is another of my imagination images. This appeared to me as either a dragon or a bear.  I told Sylvia it was a dragon because I didn’t want to have her seeing bears everywhere.

Getting out of the RV Park and on to Lake Louise - since the streams that feed Lake Louise are that glacial-melt green color, so is the lake.

If you are the brave adventurous type, you can rent a canoe and paddle out onto the lake.

There is a very imposing Fairmont Hotel just opposite the mountain view.

We had a great dinner at a one of the hotel restaurant windows overlooking the lake and mountains. The French influenced food was really good, but way too many calories..

The Lake Louise Ski complex is a couple miles away. You can see the ski runs behind the Lodge.
Tomorrow we drive the S2000 to Banff for some sightseeing there.
