Still in Red Bay

We finally got 'Phae' into the shop Thursday for the needed maintenance and thought we would be on our way tomorrow (Friday), but Tiffin is going to repair a stress crack in the paint job, so we will stay another day to get that done.

While waiting we took a tour of the Tiffin factory, which we both really enjoyed. It is amazing to see how these motorcoaches are put together. They are currently manufacturing about 12 coaches a day, down from 16-18 a day in 2006-2007, but up from 4 per day in 2009. The economy here is picking up a little bit.

The extra few days allowed us to meet some really great fellow Tiffin RV'ers, and to learn a lot more about our motorcoach and it's systems, but we still have a whole lot more to learn.  I'm sure we will keep in touch with several of the people we have met here, and maybe travel with them in the future.

We also got to go to the much anticipated Coon Dog Cemetery last evening. I wish we had gone earlier in the day so I could have gotten more detail in the pictures. (If you click on a picture it brings up a larger image so you can see things a little closer up.)

We found out that the cemetery was included in Reese Witherspoon's movie 'Sweet Home Alabama', where her childhood coon hound 'Bear' was buried. There were several 'Bear' tombstones there as apparently that is a popular name for coon dogs. I guess it sort of rolls off the tongue - 'Get 'em Bear'.
Especially when you say it with an Alabama accent - 'Y'all Git em barr'

There are at least 150-200 coon dogs buried here with all sorts of tombstones, from a stick with a name painted on it to more ornate granite tombstones.

We spent about 30-40 minutes reading grave markers.

People 'round here really love their coon dogs.

After seeing so many coon dog rememberences we just had to 'tree' something, so we treed the sign

Just a couple old coon dogs getting into the spirit.

So it's off to the paint shop in the morning, and hopefully we'll be on our way again early Saturday morning.
