Getting on the Road

It took a few weeks longer than we anticipated, but we are finally on the road.

We left Estero on June 1, stopped in Tampa to have dinner with our son Todd, then on to a rest stop 50 miles further north, where we just collapsed and slept in the motorcoach in the rest area. We were really wiped out from all the loading, packing and just getting ready.

The second night we spent at the Carrabelle Beach RV resort, in the Florida panhandle. This coastline was pretty much wiped out by hurricane Dennis in 2005, so most of the homesites on the Gulf have either a brand new structure built on very high stilts, or there is just a driveway leading to remains of a foundation.

This is a newly reworked Good Sam RV Resort, and is just across the road from a public beach. Very nice. We will stay here a few nights before moving on.  It will feel great to just hang around the beach, snoop around Carrabelle and nearby Apalachicola, and do some shelling on St. George Island.

Woah... Home Grown Basil, Home Grown Babe and a Beer. Made for a great Pasta Sauce

'Hey' from Carrabelle Beach

Funky tall St George Island Gulf-front homes on Stilts.
I just thought it made a cool picture.

Carrabelle Beach Sunrise - No Palm trees - all Pine trees.
Seems strange to see pine trees along the beach.
